FAQ

What are some of the practice's special interests?

We enjoy taking care of infants, children and young adults from birth through age 18. Each age presents different challenges and rewards. Our pediatricians and entire staff are interested in all facets of children’s health care, including but not limited to sports medicine, infectious disease, allergy, weight management and developmental-behavioral issues.

What insurance do you accept?

Accepted Insurance:

We accept almost all major insurance plans including private insurance, Medicaid/Peachcare for Children and Medicaid CMO’s.

We do not accept the following insurances:

  • Kaiser Permanente
  • Ambetter
Does the doctor see newborn babies in the hospital?

Yes, at Piedmont Rockdale. To choose our practice, simply tell the staff upon admission that you would like Conyers Pediatrics to take care of your baby.

What is the immunization policy of the practice?

We believe very strongly that vaccination with currently available immunizations is absolutely the right thing to do for all children and adults. We believe vaccines are safe and effective and that delaying or declining vaccines puts children at risk. Therefore, we endorse the vaccine schedule recommended from the American Academy of Pediatrics

How are calls for advice handled during evening and weekend hours?

Our phone nurses are specially trained to answer most of your routine questions. If your call needs to be referred to a physician, he/she will call you back at the middle or end of the day. If an urgent situation should arise after hours, call our answering service at (770) 997-5393 and they will have the physician on call contact you. For emergencies that require immediate assistance, please dial 911.

Will my child have a primary doctor or does he/she see whomever is handling sick patients that day?

You may choose the physician you wish to see. If the health care provider of your choice is unavailable, we encourage you to see one of our other providers. We are confident that your child will receive the same excellent care.

What are your average waiting times for scheduling a routine visit?

We suggest scheduling healthy checkups 1-2 months in advance.

How does the practice handle payment for services?

Our practice requires that copays and charges for non-covered services be paid at the time of service. For patients not covered by an insurance in which Conyers Pediatrics participates, we require complete payment for our services at the time of the office visit. We understand that this may be difficult for families at times; therefore, our patient account representatives will be happy to discuss payment arrangements with you.

What are your waiting times to be seen after arrival for a scheduled appointment time?

Our goal is to have our patients seen within 1 hour of their scheduled appointment time. However, if an emergency arises or we are seeing an increased amount of sick children, your wait time might be slightly longer. Our staff will keep you informed of any circumstances that lead to any unusual delay in seeing your child as scheduled.

Until what age will you continue to see my child?

Until their 19th birthday, as a general rule. We can take care of some children longer if a special arrangement is made with the physician.
